Statement from Hungarian Football Federation

Budapest, Hungary - May 4, 2024 - The Hungarian Football Federation (HFF) has released a statement confirming that striker Barnabas Varga is stable in hospital after suffering a serious injury during Hungary's Euro 2024 match against Scotland.

Varga was stretchered off the pitch in the first half of the game after a sickening collision with Scotland goalkeeper Allan McGregor. The HFF has reported that Varga is conscious and currently undergoing tests to determine the extent of his injuries.

Hungarian captain Dominik Szoboszlai was visibly distressed after witnessing the incident, while the Scottish team also expressed their concern for their opponent.

The HFF has requested privacy for Varga and his family at this time, and will provide further updates on his condition as they become available.
