Eddie Murphy Returns to Beverly Hills in New Film
Forty years after his unforgettable first case, Detroit cop Axel Foley returns to do what he does best.
WEB Detective Alexander James Axel Foley is a fictional character portrayed by Eddie Murphy and is the titular protagonist of the Beverly Hills Cop. The character has appeared in four films in the Beverly Hills Cop series, with a fifth film currently in development. In the films, Foley is a street-smart Detroit police detective who travels to Beverly Hills to investigate the murder of his friend. He quickly becomes embroiled in a web of corruption and intrigue, and must use his wits and skills to solve the case.
The first Beverly Hills Cop film was released in 1984 and was a critical and commercial success. The film spawned two sequels, Beverly Hills Cop II (1987) and Beverly Hills Cop III (1994). A fourth film, Beverly Hills Cop IV, was released in 2019.
The fifth film in the series, Axel F, is scheduled to be released in 2024. The film will see Murphy reprise his role as Foley, and will also star Taylour Paige, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and Kevin Bacon. The film will be directed by Mark Molloy.
In Axel F, Foley returns to Beverly Hills after his daughter's life is threatened. He teams up with Paige's character, a local detective, to investigate the threat and bring those responsible to justice.
The film is sure to be a hit with fans of the Beverly Hills Cop series. Murphy is still one of the most popular and charismatic actors in Hollywood, and the film's premise is sure to appeal to fans of action comedies.
