Aaron Nola Signs Long-Term Contract with Philadelphia Phillies

Seven-Year Deal Worth $172 Million

Philadelphia Phillies President of Baseball Operations David Dombrowski Announces Agreement

The Philadelphia Phillies and starting pitcher Aaron Nola have agreed to a seven-year, $172 million contract, as announced by Phillies President of Baseball Operations Dave Dombrowski. The deal includes a guaranteed $172 million and secures Nola's future with the Phillies through the 2029 season. "We are extremely pleased to have reached this agreement with Aaron," said Dombrowski. "He has been a cornerstone of our rotation for the past several years and we believe he will continue to be a key part of our success going forward." Nola, 29, has been a consistent performer for the Phillies since making his MLB debut in 2015. He has pitched at least 180 innings in each of the past five seasons and has a career record of 73-59 with a 3.45 ERA. In 2022, Nola went 11-13 with a 3.25 ERA and finished seventh in the National League Cy Young Award voting.

The signing of Nola is a significant move for the Phillies, who are looking to build on their recent successes. The team won the National League East in 2022 and advanced to the World Series, where they lost to the Houston Astros in six games. Nola's presence in the rotation will give the Phillies a solid foundation and help them compete for another championship in 2023 and beyond.
